Eagles @ Vikings Preview

Eagles will head into Minnesota to face The Vikings, after that dismal loss last sunday against the Bears. Both of these teams are 2-4 and need this win to have nay hopes at a late push to make the playoffs. Eagles who are ranked 10th in the run defense will have a lot on thier hand with rookie Adrian Peterson. Peterson is leading the league in rushing with 670 yards and 5td's on 180 carries. He has looked like the next real deal in the NFL but Eagles should be up for the challenge.
One good thing for the Eagles is the return in L J smith. The eagles have had many problems in the red zone the past few games, but The Tight End has been Mcnabb's main target in the past when they get to the red zone. Therefore look for Mcnabb and LJ to hook up in the red zone a bunch and get atleast one score.
Westbrook should have another big game, where the vikings are 27th in passing defense, so westbrook should gain many yards out of the air. I believe Westbrook will find the end zone twice in this game once through the air and once on the ground.
This is a must win game for the Eagles if they have any shot at the playoffs. There is no way they can drop to 2-5 in the division they are in. I believe they will win this one in a close hard fought battle, 17-13, improving to 3-4.

Bears @ Eagles Review

The Eagles Blow away the win in the last two min of the game, possibly even blowing their season away. The Eagles got a late score to lead by 4, which at that time seamed like it would be plenty to win this game. But with 1:57 left the Eagles pinned the Bears Down at there own 3 yard line. With no time outs left Bears were runnning a hurry up offense. They just kept completing pass after pass, and eventually with 9 seconds left Brian Griese hooked up with Mushin Muhammaded for the go ahead score. The Eagles lost in heartbreak fashion 19-16, falling to 2-4 on the season.
The Eagles let there whole fan base down, allowing a team who is ranked 27th in offense, drive 97 yards in two minutes to beat you. There is no way a defense should allow this to happen, unless there was a freak play or they weren't putting out 100% effort.
Another problem with the Eagles is there red zone offense. The eagles had many chances to open up this game, and many previous games. But they are unable to put the ball into the end zone, instead they have been settling with field goals. If the Eagles plan on winning some games the rest of the season I believe they need to start running the ball in the red zone. Instead of throwing it every down and leaving 3rd and longs.
Eagles will travel to Minnesota next week to battle Adrian Peterson and the vikings. A matchup of two 2-4 teams

Bears @ Eagles Preview

The Chicago Bears will be headed to Philadelphia in a match up of two teams who were believed to be superbowl contenders. But, the Bears at 2-4 and the Eagles at 2-3 are just looking to get back on the winning track. These two teams can not afford to lose another game and fall farther form their hopes of making the playoffs.
The bears will be starting Brian Griese for the third straight game, after benching Rex Grossman. They are going to need a big performance from him since the eagles run defense is 9th in the league, only allowing 90yds per game. But, Griese may struggle since Pro Bowl Corner Lito Sheppard will be returning after suffering an injury from the first game of the season. And already the Eagles are 9th in the league in pass defnes allwoing only 201 yds per game with 5 ints.
This game is huge for the Eagles confidence. If the Eagles can pull this one off and get back to .500, plus win 2 games in a row for the first time this season. Westbrook, the who gets this offense rolling will need to have another great performance. If the Eagles can start the game with a few big runs, it will open up the passing game for the rest of the year. The bears defense has been struggling against the pass lately, therefore Mcnabb could be in stored for a huge game.
I believe this one will be a close game for a good portion of the game, Eagles offense will be able to move the ball, and field position will be huge since bears have all pro kick returner Devin Hester. The Eagles will prevail late in this one with a few huge turnovers winning 24- 13, improving to .500 and on their way back to the top of the NFC East

Eagles @ Jets Review

Eagles got their second win of the season, in a lack luster, boring game. Eagles managed to defeat the Jets 16-9 to improve to 2-3 on the year, while the Jets fall to, 1-5. There was only one offensive touchdown scored in the game, in which Kevin Curtis broke a couple tackles to spring for a 75yd touchdown.
The Eagles had a couple bright spots in this game, even though the score does not really show it. Brian Westbrook, is looking more and more like a possible Hall of Famer after every week of play. It clearly shows the Eagles offense runs through him. He ran the ball 20 times for 120 yds and caught 6 passes for 36yds. If he stays healthy for the remainder of the year, eagles offense will just improve every week, since Mcnabb will be getting healthier and healthier. Also, the Eagles defense has been looking like a dominant force this year. The did not allow a TD this game, and were able to force a huge turnover in th red zone, also recording 3 sacks. The Eagles will also be getting Lito Sheppard back next week, who hasn't played since week 1 to improve this stellar defense.
The Eagles are still in last place in the NFC east, but they are looking better each week that goes bye. The season is still young and the Eagles can still make a push to get back to the top of the diviison. They play the Bears next week at home, a win would get them back to .500.

Eagles @ Jets Preview

The bottom dwellers of the east, Philadelphia Eagles, will be heading back to the meadowlands in week 6. This time they won't be playing the Giants, but will be facing an AFC opponent in the Jets(1-4). The Eagles will try to get rid of the horrid memories they have at the meadowlands from week 4 and possibly try and allow Mcnabb to actually have enough time to throw the ball. History is on their side, the Eagles are 8-0 under Andy Reid after the bye week, and are 7-0 against the Jets in their franchise.
The Bye week was huge for the eagles, giving them enough time for some of their players to heal. Westbrook, the spark that starts this offense, will be healthy enough to play, and should have a huge game. The Jets defense is 25th in rushing in the league allowing 125.7 yards per game. Also, LJ smith and Tra Thomas will be starting. This should help a struggling Philly offense to start rolling.
The Jets are also having many offensive issues of their own. The Jets crowd is starting to believe Chad Pennington, the starting QB for the Jets, should no longer be the starter. This could be a good thing for the eagles. Since the game is at the Jets, if the Eagles can force some early turnover off the Pennington, the crowd might turn on their home team. If this can happen the Eagles should be able to pick up their second win of the year.
I believe the eagles will end up winning this game against a struggling Jets team. Westbrook should have an enormous game rushing for over 100 yards. I see the eagles winning this one 24- 13, improving to 2-3 on the year.

Eagles @ Giants Review

I don't know which game was worse to watch. The season opener where they gave the game away. Or this game, where I'm not sure if the eagles actually tried to win. The eagles looked like a team that has no shot at any playoff hopes, and deserves to be in the bottom of the division. The eagles couldn't find then end zone in this competition and lost 16-3 to the giants, falling to 1-3 on the year. Mcnabb went 15/31 for 138 yards, but completions weren't the main problem. Mcnabb was sacked 12 times, yes 12 times.
At right tackle the eagles decided to start a 2nd year player Winston Justice. This was is first start of his young and possibly short career. He was matched up against a decent Umenyiora. Justice allowed Umenyiora to get to Mcnabb 6 times. Thats more sacks then most players in an entire season. The question is why in the world would Andy leave Justice in while he was being dominated the entire game. Atleast give him some help if you going to leave him in. That also leaves the question, is Andy's head really in the game or is his mind on his family issues. A lot of questioning is coming out that Ried may leave before the season is over.
The eagles have a bye week, at least they can't lose this week, a will return to the field in week 6 against the Jets. The bye week comes at a perfect time allowing a banged up eagles team to get healthy.
