Eagles @ Cowboys Preview

The Eagles will head into Dallas to face the elite team of the NFC. The past few years it has been the Eagles who were the feared team in the NFC and NFC East, but now times have changed and Dallas has taken over that title. At 12-1 the Cowboys look to give a beaten to the Eagles and clinch a 1st round bye in the playoffs.
Dallas has been looking so good as of late because of there impresive play by quarterback Tony Romo. Romo looked good late last year, but killed his reputation withat that fumbled field goal snap in the playoffs. Well he has cleared his name from those memories leading the cowboys to a franchise best 12-1 start. Romo has thrown for 3654 yards with 35 td's and only 12 int, clearly prow bowl numbers. He should pick apart the Eagles secondary just like he did on sunday night football when he came to Philly.
The Eagles will look to get their pride up with a win, trying to improve to 6-8. Here is the real question though, if the Eagles lose, and they probably will, is this the last game for Mcnabb in an Eagles jersey. Dropping to 5-9 it will def. be time to get the rookie draft pick Kevin Kolb some snaps. We will see what happens I guess.
I see the eagles getting dominated in every aspect this game, losing 34-13 and hopefully, yes hopefully Mcnabbs last game as an Eagle. He had a great run but its time to split ways.

Seattle @ Eagles Review

The Eagles lose another tough game losing 28-24, and pretty much throwing out any hope they have at a post-season birth this year. The Eagles were able to put up points for the second straight game, but once again their defense was unable to stop the opposition. Also, again Feeley turns the ball over late in the game with the possibility of taking the lead. The Eagles put Westbrook back to return a punt, down by 4 with 30 seconds to go. Westbrook being the dynamic superstar he is was able to return the punt all the way down to the 12 yard line putting the eagles in the driver seat to take the lead. But once again Feeley throws an interception right at the goal line right into the Seahawks hand. Feeley ended up throwing another 4 int in this game giving him 7 in two games.
Eagles did an decent job containing Hassleback who went 19-34 for 187 yards, 2td's and 1 int. But the turnovers bu the Eagles just game the Seahawks great field position all day long.
The Sehawks improve to 8-4 and pretty much look on track to win the NFC West once again, while the Eagles drop to 5-7 and can kiss their post season chances goodbye, and will have to get ready for a rebuilding process.

Seattle @ Eagles Preview

The Seattle Seahwaks, leader of the NFC West at 7-4, come into Philadelphia to face an Eagles team who is in a must win scenario, and will be in a must win scenario for the rest of the season. The Eagles will be without Mcnabb for the second straight game and AJ will get his second straight start in as many games. The Eagles are coming off that heartbreaking loss against the Patriots but will hopefully be able to carry on the momentum.
With Mcnabb being out again, like always the Eagles will rely on Westbrook. The Seahawks do have the potential to let up big plays on the grounf but overall have a good run defense. AJ will need to play just like he did against the Patriots, but will have to limit the turnovers in order to get his first win of the season.
The Seahawks without Shaun Alexander have become a pass happy team. Hassleback has been averaging 38 passes per game over the last two games, but has been extremely successful. The Eagles will have to try and stop this and are capable with a heatlhy secondary.
I believe this will be a higher scoring game, with the eagles pulling it off 34 28. Keeping their playoff hopes alive in a dismal NFC.

Eagles @ Patriots Review

What a game, but what a heartbreaking loss. Coming into the game at a 24 point underdog the Eagles came in ready to play. Without their pro bowl QB, Mcnabb, the Eagles managed to put up a real fight against the Patriots. They did end up losing 31-28, but this was as close to a morale victory you can get in sports. The Eagles fought so hard and seemed like at the end they were going to actually pull this one off.
The one thing about this game that extremely annoyed me was the play call on the final series for the Eagles. The Eagles were driving down the field only down by 3 with 4 min left. Reid decides to call a play going for it all in the end zone. The pass thrown by Feeley get picked off, ending the game. Why try and score now while you are setting u a nice drive, already in field goal range. If you score to early you are just going to leave to much time for a high dynamic offense like the Patriots to just come and drive down the field. But, besides that Ried did call a great game.
Feeley filling in for Mcnabb played great. He did throw 3 big interceptions, but he also went 27-42 for 345 yards and 3 TD's. Hopefully this momentum can carry on for the Eagles at a late run for the playoffs.

Eagles @ Patriots Preview

The Eagles head into Gillette Stadium to face the undefeated New England Patriots. This New England team is just flat out unbelievable. People believe this is the best team assembled in NFL history. With Tom Brady having the targets at WR, Randy Moss, Wes Welker, and Donte Stallworth, this high dynamic offense is unstoppable. The Eagles still fighting for their playoff hopes to be alive will have more then their hands full.
The Eagles are coming into this game a 24 point underdog. The largest point underdog in NFL history, so no one thinks they have any shot, and sadly to say neither do I. Mcnabb will not be playing and it will leave A J Feeley to start. Therefore they will need to largely lean on Westbrook, who i still believe should be the MVP of the NFL this year. If the Eagles want any shot to keep this game close they need to control the ball and Westbrook will need to go off.
I see this game to be close early on but then a blow out in the second half. Patriots pull away and win this one 42- 17, killing the Eagles playoff chances.

Dolphins @ Eagles Preview

The winless Dolphins, 0-9, come into Philadelphia to face a surging Eagles team. The Eagles need to win this game to .500 for the first time this season. If the Eagles manage not to lose this game, then getting to .500 they should bring up their momentum and possible playoff talk will be in the air in Philly.
The Dolphins are deciding to start John Beck, who will get his first career start. Seems a little silly for his coach to give him his first start in the hostile enviorment of Philadelphia. I believe Jimmy Johnson, the Def. of coordinator of the Eagles will be sending blitz packages all day to shake up the young QB. Therefore, the dolphins will have to lean on their run game with Jesse Chatman. But, Eagles are the 10th best rushing defense in the league, so this could be trouble for the Dolphins this week.
The Eagles looked the best they have all year in the game vs. the Redskins last week. If the Eagles can keep playing at a high level like they did, they should manage to pick up a wild card spot. Mcnabb looked great, and hopefully is finally back to 100%. Westbrook looked like the MVP which he is, but he is a little banged up and questionable for this week, but should suit up and play. He needs to play since he is the engine which runs this offense.
Look for the Eagles to get back to .500 this week in a blowout, 31-10, and Mcnabb having a second straight good game.

Eagles @ Washington Review

The Eagles go into Washington and come up with a huge comeback win. The Eagles manage to get their first win within the division, winning 33-25. The eagles needed this win to get back to 4-5, but more importantly get their first win within their division, which could be crucial when it comes to tiebreaker time. The Redskins drop to 5-4 and look to be on a downward spiral.
The Eagles showed a little sparkle of what we remember them as when they went to the NFC championship game 3 years in a row. Mcnabb looked the best he has all year, going 20-28 for 251 yards and 4 TD's. He was also able to scramble much more and ran for the most he has all year going for 37 yards.
Westbrook once again looked great. He rushed the ball 20 times for 100 yards and 1 TD, but he also caught the ball 5 times for 83 yards and two TD's. He caught a late screen pass from Mcnabb and took it to the house, giving the win to the Eagles.
Eagles get back to one game under .500 and welcome the winless dolphins into town next week. They should be .500 after that game and the playoffs will be back in the mind og the Eagles and their fans.

Eagles @ Redskins

The Philadelphia Eagles head into Washington, where the two bottom dwellers of the NFC East will be facing off. The Eagles come into the bout at 3-5 while the Redskins are 5-3. The redskins still have some hope at winning a wild card spot to gain a post-season berth. Therefore, they have a lot to play for at home and will try their best to come out with a victory. The Eagles otherwise look like they have no shot in getting a playoff berth. They have looked horrible this year and most likely will have a tough time with Washington.
If the eagles can not get the ball moving through the air this game i believe it is time to sit Mcnabb and look forward to the future, and put in Kolb. The Eagles know that Mcnabb is pretty much done here, with the fans all over their case, and Mcnabb making the most money in his contract next year. They need to look forward to the future and let Kolb get the experience for next year.
The next question of the Eagles mind is the coach Andy Reid. He is under a lot of pressure because of his kids, and I personally think if the Eagles lose the next few games the blame will start to fall intensely on him and he will step down from the head coaching position due to family reasons.
The Eagles I believe will lose a close one to the Redskins this week, 17 -13. I think once again Westbrook will be the only bright spot rushing for 120 and 1 TD. But the Eagles drop to 3-6.

Dallas @ Eagles Review

Once again the Eagles look terrible in prime time TV. The Eagles lose a horrible game to their division rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, 38-17. The Eagles fall to 3-5, while the Cowboys improve their record to 7-1. With this loss the Eagles look like they are defiantly out of playoff contention. The Eagles had that 5 year window to win a superbowl, but it looks like the window has finally shut, and we will have to deal with a rebuilding, mediocre team for the next few years.
Brian Dawkins came back to the Eagles secondary this week, but it didn't help one bit. The Eagles allowed Tony Romo to throw for 324 yds and 3Td's. They allowed the dreaded Terrell Owens to catch 10 balls for 174 yds and 1 TD. The secondary has slowly been looking worse each week, and needs to pick it up a notch if they want any chance to win a few more games.
Mcnabb look pretty bad once again. He fumbled on the first play of the game, while dancing around in the pocket. That is one thing that annoys me, he never make a quick decision to scramble or to throw the ball away, he just dances around in the pocket and 9 times out of 10 it turns into a bad play. I believe this is def Mcnabb's last year unless some how the Eagles can go on a crazy run and make the playoffs. The only bright spot the Eagles had once again is Brian Westbrook. Brian Westbrook is flat out a beast and I believe they should start building the team around him.
The Eagles head into Washington Next week for another divisional game, a must win, since every game from now on out is a must win.

Eagles @ Vikings Preview

Eagles will head into Minnesota to face The Vikings, after that dismal loss last sunday against the Bears. Both of these teams are 2-4 and need this win to have nay hopes at a late push to make the playoffs. Eagles who are ranked 10th in the run defense will have a lot on thier hand with rookie Adrian Peterson. Peterson is leading the league in rushing with 670 yards and 5td's on 180 carries. He has looked like the next real deal in the NFL but Eagles should be up for the challenge.
One good thing for the Eagles is the return in L J smith. The eagles have had many problems in the red zone the past few games, but The Tight End has been Mcnabb's main target in the past when they get to the red zone. Therefore look for Mcnabb and LJ to hook up in the red zone a bunch and get atleast one score.
Westbrook should have another big game, where the vikings are 27th in passing defense, so westbrook should gain many yards out of the air. I believe Westbrook will find the end zone twice in this game once through the air and once on the ground.
This is a must win game for the Eagles if they have any shot at the playoffs. There is no way they can drop to 2-5 in the division they are in. I believe they will win this one in a close hard fought battle, 17-13, improving to 3-4.

Bears @ Eagles Review

The Eagles Blow away the win in the last two min of the game, possibly even blowing their season away. The Eagles got a late score to lead by 4, which at that time seamed like it would be plenty to win this game. But with 1:57 left the Eagles pinned the Bears Down at there own 3 yard line. With no time outs left Bears were runnning a hurry up offense. They just kept completing pass after pass, and eventually with 9 seconds left Brian Griese hooked up with Mushin Muhammaded for the go ahead score. The Eagles lost in heartbreak fashion 19-16, falling to 2-4 on the season.
The Eagles let there whole fan base down, allowing a team who is ranked 27th in offense, drive 97 yards in two minutes to beat you. There is no way a defense should allow this to happen, unless there was a freak play or they weren't putting out 100% effort.
Another problem with the Eagles is there red zone offense. The eagles had many chances to open up this game, and many previous games. But they are unable to put the ball into the end zone, instead they have been settling with field goals. If the Eagles plan on winning some games the rest of the season I believe they need to start running the ball in the red zone. Instead of throwing it every down and leaving 3rd and longs.
Eagles will travel to Minnesota next week to battle Adrian Peterson and the vikings. A matchup of two 2-4 teams

Bears @ Eagles Preview

The Chicago Bears will be headed to Philadelphia in a match up of two teams who were believed to be superbowl contenders. But, the Bears at 2-4 and the Eagles at 2-3 are just looking to get back on the winning track. These two teams can not afford to lose another game and fall farther form their hopes of making the playoffs.
The bears will be starting Brian Griese for the third straight game, after benching Rex Grossman. They are going to need a big performance from him since the eagles run defense is 9th in the league, only allowing 90yds per game. But, Griese may struggle since Pro Bowl Corner Lito Sheppard will be returning after suffering an injury from the first game of the season. And already the Eagles are 9th in the league in pass defnes allwoing only 201 yds per game with 5 ints.
This game is huge for the Eagles confidence. If the Eagles can pull this one off and get back to .500, plus win 2 games in a row for the first time this season. Westbrook, the who gets this offense rolling will need to have another great performance. If the Eagles can start the game with a few big runs, it will open up the passing game for the rest of the year. The bears defense has been struggling against the pass lately, therefore Mcnabb could be in stored for a huge game.
I believe this one will be a close game for a good portion of the game, Eagles offense will be able to move the ball, and field position will be huge since bears have all pro kick returner Devin Hester. The Eagles will prevail late in this one with a few huge turnovers winning 24- 13, improving to .500 and on their way back to the top of the NFC East

Eagles @ Jets Review

Eagles got their second win of the season, in a lack luster, boring game. Eagles managed to defeat the Jets 16-9 to improve to 2-3 on the year, while the Jets fall to, 1-5. There was only one offensive touchdown scored in the game, in which Kevin Curtis broke a couple tackles to spring for a 75yd touchdown.
The Eagles had a couple bright spots in this game, even though the score does not really show it. Brian Westbrook, is looking more and more like a possible Hall of Famer after every week of play. It clearly shows the Eagles offense runs through him. He ran the ball 20 times for 120 yds and caught 6 passes for 36yds. If he stays healthy for the remainder of the year, eagles offense will just improve every week, since Mcnabb will be getting healthier and healthier. Also, the Eagles defense has been looking like a dominant force this year. The did not allow a TD this game, and were able to force a huge turnover in th red zone, also recording 3 sacks. The Eagles will also be getting Lito Sheppard back next week, who hasn't played since week 1 to improve this stellar defense.
The Eagles are still in last place in the NFC east, but they are looking better each week that goes bye. The season is still young and the Eagles can still make a push to get back to the top of the diviison. They play the Bears next week at home, a win would get them back to .500.

Eagles @ Jets Preview

The bottom dwellers of the east, Philadelphia Eagles, will be heading back to the meadowlands in week 6. This time they won't be playing the Giants, but will be facing an AFC opponent in the Jets(1-4). The Eagles will try to get rid of the horrid memories they have at the meadowlands from week 4 and possibly try and allow Mcnabb to actually have enough time to throw the ball. History is on their side, the Eagles are 8-0 under Andy Reid after the bye week, and are 7-0 against the Jets in their franchise.
The Bye week was huge for the eagles, giving them enough time for some of their players to heal. Westbrook, the spark that starts this offense, will be healthy enough to play, and should have a huge game. The Jets defense is 25th in rushing in the league allowing 125.7 yards per game. Also, LJ smith and Tra Thomas will be starting. This should help a struggling Philly offense to start rolling.
The Jets are also having many offensive issues of their own. The Jets crowd is starting to believe Chad Pennington, the starting QB for the Jets, should no longer be the starter. This could be a good thing for the eagles. Since the game is at the Jets, if the Eagles can force some early turnover off the Pennington, the crowd might turn on their home team. If this can happen the Eagles should be able to pick up their second win of the year.
I believe the eagles will end up winning this game against a struggling Jets team. Westbrook should have an enormous game rushing for over 100 yards. I see the eagles winning this one 24- 13, improving to 2-3 on the year.

Eagles @ Giants Review

I don't know which game was worse to watch. The season opener where they gave the game away. Or this game, where I'm not sure if the eagles actually tried to win. The eagles looked like a team that has no shot at any playoff hopes, and deserves to be in the bottom of the division. The eagles couldn't find then end zone in this competition and lost 16-3 to the giants, falling to 1-3 on the year. Mcnabb went 15/31 for 138 yards, but completions weren't the main problem. Mcnabb was sacked 12 times, yes 12 times.
At right tackle the eagles decided to start a 2nd year player Winston Justice. This was is first start of his young and possibly short career. He was matched up against a decent Umenyiora. Justice allowed Umenyiora to get to Mcnabb 6 times. Thats more sacks then most players in an entire season. The question is why in the world would Andy leave Justice in while he was being dominated the entire game. Atleast give him some help if you going to leave him in. That also leaves the question, is Andy's head really in the game or is his mind on his family issues. A lot of questioning is coming out that Ried may leave before the season is over.
The eagles have a bye week, at least they can't lose this week, a will return to the field in week 6 against the Jets. The bye week comes at a perfect time allowing a banged up eagles team to get healthy.

Eagles @ Giants

Eagles head into the meadowlands, under the stars, for Sunday night football. This is a divisonal game, therefore it should be a hard fought battle. Both teams are 1-2 and look to get back to .500. the losing team will drop into the cellar of the division.

The Eagles still have many injurie issues they will have to deal with. Lito sheppard will be out for his second consecutive game. But, even more importantly Dawkins and Westbrook are both questionable. We need both of these players to start in order to have a good shot at defeating the Giants. If Westbrook can't play the eagles will be losing a huge offensive impact.

If Westbrook can not play, the defensive will have to step up their game to keep the ball game close. The defensive line will have to play like they did last week, and put on a ton of pressure on Eli Manning, who is know to struggle when opposing defense can rattle him a little. Even with a depleted secondary for the second straight week, they will still need to step up from last week. Sheldon Brown will have a lot to deal with, when he has to cover Plaxico Buress.

This ball game should be a hard fought battle. If Westbrook plays I believe eagles will have a much easier time winning. If he does play i see the Eagles winning 27-17. If Westbrook can not go I see it being a much closer game, something such as 20-17. Either wasy i believe eagles carry the momentum from last game and find their way back to .500

Detroit @ Eagles Review

What a shoot out. Mcnabb silence all the criticisms with his outing against the detroit lions. Mcnabb went 21 /26 for 381 yards and four touchdowns. He connected with Kevin Curtis 11 times for 221 yards and three touchdowns. It almost looked like the eagles where running an offensive practice drill. Mcnabb told his players the route and all they had to do was run them and avoid the "dummies". This win hopefully will get the eagles momentum going against a big game they have next week against the NY Giants.

The defense looked a little shaky in the secondary allowing Kitna to throw for 446 yards and allowing Roy Williams to net 204 yards. But, the offensive line looked great. They got a tremendous amount of pressure on Kitna all game and ended up with nine, yes nine sacks. Trent Cole alone had 4 sacks.

Westbrook, a possible early MVP candidate had an incredible game as well. Westbrook rushed for 110 yards on 14 carries, punching in two touchdowns. He also caught 5 passes for 11 yards and one touchdown. He did leave the game early with a rib injury, but hopefully he can play in next weeks game.

Detroit @ Eagles Preview

The season is young, and we are only in the third week of the regular season, but this may be a must win game for the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles will be hosting the undefeated Detroit Lions(2-0) on Sunday at 1:00PM. The lions will be looking to go 3-0 for the first time since 1980, while the Eagles will try to avoid dropping the first 3 games since 1999. The Eagles will have to try and stop a prolific passing attack the lions bring to the table.

Kitna, the starting QB for the lions, did suffer a concussion last week and had to miss some action. He is probable and should be fine to start. Kitna has started the season off going 49-69 for 534 with 4 touchdowns. But, Kitna is vulnerable in throwing interceptions, in which he has already thrown 3 in this young season. Kitna will look to pass the ball to his stud WR. Roy Williams and an upcoming star Calvin Johnson. Roy Williams is coming off a great game in which he caught 7 passes for 111 yards and 1 TD, his first TD of the season. Playing opposite of Williams is the second overall pick of the 2007 draft Calvin Johnson. Johnson looks like he will be considered an elite WR in the upcoming years. Johnson has started in 2 career games and has caught 8 balls, for 131 yards and 2 TD's. These wideouts should give an Eagles secondary, riddled with injuries, a lot of problems.

Injuries were the questions on everyone’s mind when they spoke about the eagles during preseason. Now it looks like injuries will play a major factor in the upcoming game. Brian Dawkins Lito Sheppard and Brian Westbrook have yet to practice this week. Dawkins and Westbrook are probable, but Sheppard is questionable and probably won't play. This will be a problem since Sheldon Brown will have to cover Williams, leaving Calvin Johnson covered by a committee of inexperienced players. If the Eagles have any shot in winning this game they will need their pro-bowl Qb to step his game up. Mcnabb has looked very poor in his first two outings of the season, going 43-70 for 424 yards,1TD and 1 INT. This game could be exactly what Mcnabb needs. The Detroit lions secondary is ranked 22nd allowing 252.5 yards per game. The eagles Wr should be able to find some open holes in the secondary and if Mcnabb can hit them he should do well.

I believe this game is going to bring Mcnabbs confidence back up, which he desperately needs. The Eagles fan base are on his case about the poor start, and if the Eagles lose their third straight the city will go into utter chaos. I think this game will be a shoot out, but I believe the eagles defense will be able to cause much needed turnovers. I see this game coming down to the fourth quarter, where the eagles pull away and win by a TD, getting their season back on track.

This game the eagles will be sporting their 75th anniversary blue and gold jerseys. Let's hope its good luck.

Redskins @ Eagles Review

After week ones performance, eagles fan didn't think the season could start out any worse. But after the eagles lost their home opener, under the lights on Monday night football, eagles fans realized it just has. How can a team, experts believed were capable of representing the NFC in the superbowl display such a poor outing in front of thier home crowd on Monday night. Monday Night, the night where superstars are suppose to shine. No superstars came out for the eagles, as they lost their home opener 20-12, and are now 0-2 and 2 games behind the Redskins and Cowboys who lead the NFC east.

This loss leaves many questions in the minds of the eagles faithful. Actually, how healthy is Mcnabb. When Mcnabb went down in the middle of the 2006 season, doctors said it would take about 10-12 months to fully recover. 9 months later Mcnabb is back and starting for the eagles. But, in the first 2 games of the season he has looked less then mediocre. Last night Mcnabb completed 28 0f 46 for 240 yards. But numbers can be deceiving. He overthrew and underthrew many balls, couldn't scan the field for open receivers, and barely scrambled when he needed to. This isn't the mcnabb we remember leading us too the superbowl. If he's not 100% and hurting the team as the starting QB is it time to bench him and look towards the future with KOLB?

Also, Andy Reid made many play calls which just boggled my mind. We all know Reid has had a lot of family issues during this offseason. Is all those problems distracting him from the game? I believe if the eagles have a losing season or miss the playoffs, we will see Reid resign from the Head Coaching position.

Eagles will host the Detroit Lions(2-0) this upcoming Sunday. The lions have 2 of the best WR in the game which will be hard for the Eagles to stop. I know it's early but this might be a must win game for the birds, they cannot slip to 0-3.

INTRODUCTION

Each week on this blog i will be posting a preview of the upcoming eagles matchup. After the game I will then follow up with a review of the game.
